Solo Concarneau – Trophée Guy Cotten
This 40th edition launched the 2016 Figaro Beneteau circuit with a fleet of 10 double-handed and 23 single-handed boats. The leading lights competed and a great battle took place over the 340 nautical miles route. Finally, Yann Elies and Antoine Carpentier (Queguiner – Leucémie Espoir) finished in first position in the double-handed fleet. In single-handed category, Charlie Dalin (Macif skipper 2015) finished just 2 minutes before Yoann Richomme (Macif skipper 2014).
Another stand-out performance with a 6th position in the 23-boat solo fleet for Will Harris, Artemis Offshore Academy new recruit. In the double-handed fleet, British co-skippers Sam Matson and Robin Elsey also finished in 6th position: a solid result for the start of the year ahead of the Transat AG2R and/or La Solitaire Bompard – Le Figaro!
Spi Ouest-France – Destination Morbihan
A fleet of nearly 350 boats is expected in La Trinité-Sur-Mer over the Easter weekend to compete on Spi Ouest-France on several routes. The race mingles amateurs and professionals, monohulls and multihulls, one-design and production boats.
ADRENA, equipping nearly 50% of IRC boats, facilitates your preparation, the 2016 edition waypoints and route are available.
At the same time, in the Mediterranean Sea, they will be nearly 1500 navigators ready to compete in Marseille Bay during the 51st SNIM edition. To follow the race, it’s here.
Transat AG2R LA MONDIALE
On April 3rd, not less than 16 two-handed Figaro Beneteau boats will cross the Atlantic Ocean from Concarneau, France, to St Barthelemy.
2 major innovations are brought in the 13th edition in order to follow the navigators as close as possible and to add more strategic options to the race. Indeed, boats equipped with a satellite transmission will send pictures and videos so that the public can watch the race from the inside. The route will also evolve as it will give to the competitors the possibility to make more open tactical decisions by choosing a southern route for example. ADRENA’s routing function may run at top speed to help them making the right decisions!
America’s Cup World Series racing returns to New York
America’s Cup racing returns to New York for the first time in nearly a century with Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series racing on May 7-8.
Six ACWS events are scheduled in 2016. After Oman; the next ones will be held in New York; then Chicago in June 10-12; and Portsmouth in July 22-24.
Two additional ACWS events will complete the calendar, likely in Europe in mid-September and in Asia in mid-November.
Besides Oracle, the five America’s Cup teams competing in one design foiling AC45 catamarans are Emirates Team New Zealand, Land Rover BAR of Britain, Artemis Racing of Sweden, SoftBank Team Japan and Groupama Team France.
Three months after a serious accident followed by surgery on his leg, Franck Cammas from Groupama Team France is back onboard. The whole team now keeps training and gears up for the World Series event in New York this May.
