Track data in Adrena

  • Visualize a data evolution:

A global data evolution can be displayed along the navigation or the course.

Capture1_Pdt_site

In the example above, the wind direction is displayed: the more red the track is, the more the wind is on the right of the course axis and reverse, the more blue the track is, the more the wind is on the left side of the course axis.

This way, by playing on the coloration display setting (scale at the left bottom of the screen), it will be easy to highlight key times or to answer any question when debriefing. Other interesting data: the coloration regarding the % of target speed. You instantly get the phases with good or bad efficiency. Very useful to understand a race result.

  • Visualize the coast effects:

Coloration of the track according to the wind direction:

Coloration of the track according to the wind speed:

Thanks to those two examples, you clearly visualize the influence of Yeu Island.

By sailing at 2.5 nautic miles under the island’s wind considering a North-East wind, the wind is going to increase with rotation to the right. It is the case of a low coast.

  • Combine the two functions:

Capture4_Pdt_site

In this case, we have set the track displayed with:

  • A thickness criterion which is the wind speed with a top limit at 15 knots.
  • A coloration for the wind direction.

The wind is dying down and rotating to the left under the Noirmoutier island wind.

  • Case of the Sailect:

You can use the tracks display settings to work on the Sailect. The coloration and thickness settings can also be applied on the wind historic (TWS/TWA) displayed on top of the Sailect.

Capture5_Pdt_site

In the example above, the wind historic coloration is set along the target speed ratio. The more into the red you are, the more the % is high, this way you can follow the efficiency ratio of a sail configuration, adjust a Sailect or manage a sail change.

  • In real time:

You can also use the track as an alarm according to its thickness or to follow a data trend thanks to the coloration.

One advise, do not hesitate to tighten the coloration scale. The colours will be more talkative and you will be better advised if there is a true colour change before/after or lower/upper instead of light colour change into the track. In this case, the visual information is swamped in the middle of small coloration changes..

Thanks to these functions, you end up with a teaching and decision making tool.

Do not forget, your navigations are knowledge rich.
